Their debut album, Forever, released in 1997, was a commercial triumph, selling over a million copies and solidifying their reputation for delivering emotionally resonant ballads and upbeat R&B tracks. Damage continued to build momentum with their 2001 album, Since You’ve Been Gone, which featured hits like “Ghetto Romance” and showcased a more mature sound, further cementing their place in the international R&B market. The group toured extensively during this period, performing alongside iconic acts like Janet Jackson, Spice Girls, and Boyz II Men.
