Believe it or not, some of the UK’s best exports come from Stoke-On-Trent. Wedgewood pottery. Oatcakes. Robbie Williams! Now, we can add indie-alt four-piece Camens to that list.

Indeed, since emerging in 2017 with their debut single, 'Redolence' the band have gone from strength to strength, rapidly ascending to hometown hero status in the eyes of Stokies, before spreading their wings and taking to towns and cities across the UK. So far, so normal. But Camens aren’t your typical indie band, it’s not engineered, Insta-filtered or Mummy-and-Daddy-funded. It’s real, it counts, and people are beginning to catch on.

And well they might, armed with a litany of singles such as ‘Danny DeVito’, ‘Poltergeist’, and ‘On The Walk From The Picturehouse’, the four-piece have succeeded in staying true to themselves, whilst their reputation grows. Since May 2022, the band’s latest wave of releases have racked up over 330,000 plays on Spotify alone, whilst garnering the support of multiple editorial placements across DSPs, not to mention the masses of radio support from the likes of Amazing Radio (USA & UK), BBC Radio 6, Introducing, Sounds and XS Manchester, with Poltergeist earning track of the week from the latter. Clint Boon, Steve Lamacq, Dean Jackson, Gideon Coe and Tom Robinson are noteworthy in their support.

However, It’s not just on record that the band have been turning heads. A national tour supporting Florida indie darlings Black Kids was proof that the industry was starting to pay attention, whilst a clutch of sold-out support slots for UK chart-toppers Scouting for Girls saw the band bring their upbeat and idiosyncratic brand of indie-alt to a whole host of new faces. Other great nights have been had across the country with the likes of The Snuts, The Lottery Winners, The Futureheads, The Sherlocks and many more. 2023 also saw Camens make their major UK festival debut at Derbyshire's YNot Fest alongside Kasabian, James and Paul Weller to name but a few, to be shortly followed by a main stage appearance at Cheshires Deva Fest where they shared the stage with Starsailor and Feeder.

So what has all this been leading towards? The answer is simple, the all-important debut album.

Work/Life/Balance is the product of years of hard graft from everyone involved, not least the band themselves for whom calling it a day has never been an option. Not only does the record tap into the feelings that many of us are experiencing post-pandemic, but it’s also an honest observation of the challenges being an independent band presents and as such, is a record that’s in keeping with all the classic underdog stories the band seem to be treading in real life.

Announced in January, a string of singles will lead up to the album’s release on May 24th, 2024! Not to mention a ticketing campaign for a tour to sell physicals, merch and more. Now with the band already well into the planning of this release, they’re looking for a team to build infrastructure to aid with the promotion of what's set to be the bands biggest leap in the industry yet.
